Introduction to Judaism Classes

Our annual Introduction to Judaism classes will once again be held beginning in October 2011. Classes will be taught by rabbis of New Castle County congregations once a week. Courses include History, Comparative Religion, Basic Beliefs of Judaism, Holidays, Liturgy, Life Cycle, and Ancient Texts. Across the years well over one hundred students have participated in the Introduction to Judaism program, some of whom have chosen Judaism. One does not have to commit to conversion; graduation from the program gives the student the opportunity to receive a “diploma”. Should s/he choose to continue toward conversion at a later date at another location, the student will have this “diploma” signed by members of national rabbinical organizations to show that s/he has completed an introductory course. It is mandatory for the student to have a sponsoring rabbi.
